This enterprise initially offered web site development services then expanded its delivery to include mentoring, training and marketing. Clients came from the Northern Rivers, NSW and Brisbane, QLD.

Sole Proprietor:

• Provided service quotations within 24 hours of initial enquiry
• Developed web sites for customers in a range of industries
  • Consulted with client to determine site objectives and develop site plan
  • Wrote site copy for clients as appropriate
  • Coded and validated web sites to appropriate standard
    • incorporated image roll-overs, forms, etc as appropriate
    • created and optimised graphics
  • registered sites with search engines
    • monitored site performence (if requested) to optimise site rank
• Assisted clients with developing effective marketing materials

  • letterhead & other stationery items
  • space advertising
• Performed all administrative and clerical duties
• Maintained and analysed accounts using M.Y.O.B. and Excel

Reason for leaving:

The business idea was sound but experienced a cash-flow crisis due to insufficient sales. This is typical for most new consultancies.

I did not know when commencing operations that a capital city competitor had signed up most local businesses several months earlier. It then broke all contracts, leaving many people disillusioned and resistant. I relocated to the Gold Coast in 2000 to pursue existing clients and to capitalise on enquiries from SE Queensland. The business is now operating under my own name on a casual basis.
