Employment History - Position Detail

This department is responsible for providing assistance to families, investigate allegations of abuse and provide support to children in alternative care arrangements. At that time, it was also responsible for supervising young offenders.

Social Worker

• Case management duties for approximately 35 clients (mixed caseload)
  • prepare reports, write letters, interview clients, investigate abuse allegations
• Serve as liaison between clients & other departments or agencies
• Attend meetings, perform Chair duties or take minutes as required
• Authorise financial assistance to clients in need as appropriate
• Report on and assess own performance in workplace
• Recommend changes to workplace environment
  • co-worker assigned to assist with general customer interviews
    • approved by management
  • air extractor fitted to photocopying room
    • approved by management

Reason for leaving:

Personal issues were interfering with my ability to investigate allegations of child sexual assault. Counselling failed to resolve the issues in time. Management and I amicably agreed to part company during a State-wide Departmental reorganisation.
